IssuesSteven pledges to examine all issues that come before him and analyze how they will affect Ward 1 and the township. His primary goals will be to:
- Promote open and accessible government.
- Keep residents informed through web site, e-mail and town meetings.
- Improve zoning to preserve open spaces and attract quality investment.
- Promote the development of destination places within Abington Township in established commercial areas, such as movie theater, family entertainment places, recreation centers, performing arts center.
- Encourage responsible revitalization with minimal impact to our residential neighborhoods.
- With the tide of redevelopment starting to wash over the township, we need to constantly evaluate the impact of these projects on the surrounding neighborhoods. How do they change the quality of life to these neighborhoods? How do they impact the infrastructure of the township? How do they affect the finances of the township (fiscal impact studies)?
- The township should be actively involved in evaluating traffic impact, storm water management, air and natural light impact.
- Use development agreements to bind property owners and developers to adhere to all aspects of the approved project (i.e. construction staging, soil erosion & sedimentary controls, storm water management, grading and post construction ground stabilization).
- Enhance the relationship between the school board and the commissioners to encourage better communication and cooperation.
- Continue to support our police and volunteer fire departments to keep our neighborhoods safe and secure.
- Develop strategies that deliver first-class services without raising taxes.
