IssuesSteven pledges to examine all issues that come before him and analyze how they will affect Ward 1 and the township. His primary goals will be to:
- Promote open and accessible government.
- Develop conduits to enhance communication between the residents and their commissioner through such methods like this website, news alerts and updates with e-mail and town meetings.
- Respond promptly to your questions, suggestions and concerns. Make every attempt to respond to your calls within 24 hours.
- Assist residents in obtaining the information they need about township activities, services, ordinances and current events.
- Develop a township resource booklet for Ward 1 residents that lists township departments, contacts information and the services they provide.
- Support efforts to continue the use of channel 43 to televise the Board of Commissioner meetings. Expand the televising to include the Board of Commissioners committee meetings and other important meetings of our volunteer boards (Zoning Hearing Board, Planning Commission, Economic Development Council and Environmental Advisor Council) discussing projects and issues that have wide reaching impact on the township.
- Keep residents informed through web site, e-mail and town meetings.
- Improve zoning to preserve open spaces and attract quality investment.
- Promote the development of destination places within Abington Township in established commercial areas, such as movie theater, family entertainment places, recreation centers, performing arts center.
- Encourage responsible revitalization with minimal impact to our residential neighborhoods.
- Enhance the relationship between the school board and the commissioners to encourage better communication and cooperation.
- Continue to support our police and volunteer fire departments to keep our neighborhoods safe and secure.
- Develop strategies that deliver first-class services without raising taxes.
